Sangita Chudiwala: Distinct and Diverse Luxe Accessories
Sangita Chudiwala is a Mumbai based accessories designer whose designs can only be termed as distinct yet diverse. Having successfully run an entrepreneurial business over the years, it was not until a few years ago that she went back to her first love, designing. A professionally trained fashion designer from Sophia’s Polytechnic Mumbai, Sangita jumped headlong into designing accessories when she noticed an absence of designer accessory options in the market. The effort was appreciated by friends and fashionistas alike and turned into what is today, a flourishing business in export of accessories. Exports still dominate her business and her designs have the accolade of being bought by influential stores such as Harrods, Café Noir Italy, Drap Spain and Anna Cecere Italy.
Nothing succeeds like success, and following the inspiring growth of her export business she recently launched her self titled accessories label ‘Sangita Chudiwala’ a range of luxe accessories- bags, shoes, belts and jewellery. Her label also creates coordinated accessories: a set of shoes, bags, belts and neckpieces that will complete a look. This media shy designers work speaks for itself and her brand is now available at the Mumbai’s trend setting fashion stores such as Aza, Amara, Fuel, Mogra and Cypress.
Her bags which have been runaway sellers find a special mention. Objects D’art, curios, silver coins, shells, pearls, semi precious stones, carved handles, all find place in her bags making them pieces of art. Not one to limit herself to any medium, Sangita works with a wide range of fabrics such as jute, raw silk or brocade along with leather, cane, bamboo and metals such a silver.
Sangita is one of the few designers who is not dictated by fashion and refuses to be restricted to a ‘trademark’ style. She gives herself a free creative reign designing distinctive pieces for all seasons. Rather her creativity flourishes in different designs for all seasons, each one unique, and each one classy, sophisticated and extremely edgy. The only uniform characteristics are attention to detail, fine finish and internationally accepted standards of quality. Her creations are so exquisite that they find their own place in fashion.
Women of style inspire Sangita. A Sangita Chudiwala design is always eye catching, but never too overpowering. It always compliments a woman’s personal style. Says the designer, “I always try to be ahead in terms of ideas and try to push the definition of accessories in the minds of women who wear them. My designs exude a certain style, but I aim to design for a woman who will give them her own character, her own character. All my designs are distinct and so should be the woman who wears them.” Definitely for a woman who is aware of the latest trends but not afraid to make them her own.
